Main Harvest StartedLandkom International PLC (AIM: LKI, "Landkom" or the "Company"), the Ukrainian producer of high-value oil seed rape and wheat, has started the harvest of its principal crop, Oil Seed Rape (OSR). Harvesting is expected to take around four weeks, depending on local weather conditions. The wheat harvest is expected to start imminently and will run through to the beginning of September, depending on weather. During the harvest period the Company will also commence its winter planting programme. Separately Landkom has completed the harvesting, in the western regions, of one of its minor crops, barley, which is planted for crop rotational purposes. Landkom planted in 2008, approximately 600 hectares (ha) of barley on a low input model compared to its wheat crop. Landkom achieved an average dry yield of 3.6 tonnes per ha of barley with some fields yielding over five tonnes per ha. Landkom intends to publish the results for each major crop on completion of each harvest phase. Richard Spinks, Chief Executive Officer commented:
